Parent Classes

At Mary, Mother of Hope Schools, we strive to work together with parents to ensure that the children in our care experience the best possible experience during their time in our school.

One way of achieving this is by developing strong links between school and home. With the support of City of Dublin Education Training Board (CDETB) we hold parent classes to help welcome and involve parents in school life.

If you are interested in joining any of our classes please contact the office at info@hopejns.ie

Jewellery Making Class – Tuesday 11.30-1.30

Yoga Class – Thursday 9.00-10.30

Flower Arranging Class – Thursday 12.00 – 1.30/2.00

Christmas Message

Christmas DecorationsThe singing has begun, and preparations are now well underway for our Christmas events. I have attached the schedule to this message again for your attention. Below is some further information about activities we have planned in the coming weeks.

Christmas Cards

Your child will bring home their personal Christmas cards today. If you wish to purchase the cards please make the payment via Aladdin. The cards cost €8 per pack and raise valuable funds for the school. If any changes need to be made to the spelling on your child’s card please note that on the payment or return the order sheet sent home with the card. You do not need to return the order form if no changes are required.

Christmas Annuals

In the coming weeks parents have the option of purchasing a Christmas annual for their child at a cost of €2.00. The annuals have lovely stories and activities in both English and Irish. Should you wish to purchase one please make the payment via Aladdin and the annual will be delivered to your child’s classroom.

Homework Passes

Our annual Homework Pass Fundraiser organised by the Parents Association will also take place this year and you can purchase up to two homework passes for your child on Aladdin. They cost €2 each can be used any time from Dec 1st to 16th.

St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal

Every year as Christmas approaches, we as a school community, take part in various activities which aim to help the children think of those less fortunate than themselves. We always support the St Vincent de Paul Giving Tree campaign. You will find all the information you need if you wish to take part by clicking here: https://www.svp.ie/ways-to-help/gift-of-choice-appeal/

Christmas Jumper Day

We will be celebrating a Christmas Jumper Day on Dec 9th in aid of Crumlin Children’s Hospital. All children and staff are invited to wear something festive to school if they would like to, and to make a suggested €2 contribution to this special cause via Aladdin. Please do not go out and buy something new – some tinsel, a Christmas hat or snowflake decoration is perfect.  Children will also be treated to a Christmas Movie on the day.

Reindeer Food

Children in the Senior school will be preparing some “Magic Reindeer Food” for you and your child to sprinkle on the ground on Christmas Eve. This comes attached to a lovely Christmas card and each bag costs €1. It can be purchased through Aladdin and will be delivered to your child’s classroom. Please feel free to buy for friends and family as the entire proceeds will go to the St. Vincent de Paul.

Christmas Holidays

School closes for Christmas at 12pm on Dec 21st. We will have a fun morning and you never know who might be in touch to round off the Christmas festivities for us in school!!

School will reopen on Thursday, Jan 5th 2023.

Exchanging Christmas Cards

We would ask that children do not bring Christmas Cards to school for children in their class. This can lead to some children being left out which causing  great upset. Children will have many other opportunities to share Christmas Greetings with their classmates at school.

Christmas Gifts & Cards

The support, kindness and generosity of our parent body throughout the year is something that is greatly appreciated by the staff of both the Junior and Senior schools. We would urge parents not to feel under pressure to purchase gifts for staff at this already expensive time. Should you choose to do so, a simple card, email or word of thanks is more than adequate and will be very much appreciated by school staff. We also ask that parents avoid doing class collections as parents can feel under pressure to contribute when they are unable to or do not wish to do so.

Warmest regards,
Alma Moran

Welcome Back to School – September 2022

Welcome Back to School

Good afternoon everyone,

We are really looking forward to welcoming everyone back to school on Thursday, September 1st and very excited about meeting our Junior Infants when they visit school for the first time on Wednesday.

We will welcome Senior Infants, 1st and 2nd Class children at 8.50 on Thursday and Junior Infants will start at 10.00 that day.

Junior Infants will go home at 12.00 on Thursday, Senior Infants at 1.30 and 1st and 2nd Class children at 2.30.

All children should be dropped at the gate of the Junior School and encouraged to walk to their line to meet their teacher and friends. There will be plenty of staff around to guide them to the correct spot.

Best of luck to all of our past pupils moving on to 3rd Class and those who have moved to other schools. We will miss you but know you will continue to be fabulous wherever you go.

Many thanks to all staff members who have been busy getting ready for the children’s arrival.

Enjoy the last couple of days ad the lovely sunshine.

See you all on Thursday,

Kindest regards,
Alma Moran
Principal
